Office Party Do’s and Don’t’s
Your company’s holiday party can be a great time to socialize with other colleagues that you might not know that well and celebrate the holiday
season with your coworkers. This is a great time to have fun, as long as you take the precautions to be professional! Believe it or not 15% of companies said that inappropriate employee behavior has impacted an individual’s career growth within the company, so Antoinetta’s Waterfront Restaurant wants to share some tips for being professional at your company’s holiday party.
One of the most important things to think about when being professional at your company’s holiday party is alcohol. A lot of companies will provide alcohol at the holiday party, but it’s important that you don’t overindulge. Limit yourself to one or two cocktails at the party. Speaking of drinks, keep your drink in your left hand so that you can shake with your right hand when you greet people.
You should prepare some small talk that doesn’t include business related conversation. This is your time to be social, don’t be the one that dampens the party with work talk. Try to challenge yourself to meet and spend time with coworkers that you might not know so well. When mingling with your coworkers avoid complaining about work or other coworkers and switch topics if someone starts to complain.
When it comes to your company’s holiday party, there is no arriving fashionably late or leaving early. People will notice who comes in late and who leaves early and this could give you a bad reputation. Your company is trying to do something nice for its employees, enjoy it! Consider the attire on the invitation before you attend the party. You don’t want to be overdressed or underdressed. Also check the invitation to see whether guests are invited. If not, save your date for a different holiday event.
When you do leave, make sure to thank whoever planned the party! In these tough economic times a holiday party might not be as easy to have, so if your company is having one it’s because they appreciate their employees. Make sure you appreciate this gesture! Consider sending a thank you card, it will likely go a long way.
Company holiday parties can be something that people get nervous about, but it doesn’t have to be this way! This is a great way to socialize with your coworkers, and you can have a lot of fun as long as you’re professional about it! Antoinetta’s knows how important it is to unwind and relax and we want you to have a great time at your company’s holiday party this year! If you’re planning the party, consider having it with us! As you may know, Antoinetta’s is a BYOB “bring your own bottle” establishment, but don’t forget that they offer a variety of wines from Plagido’s Winery in Hammontown, NJ. In fact, Antoinetta’s is one of only six retailers in the state.
If you are looking for a white selection, keep an eye out for Plagido’s Choice. Made from the seedless Marquis grape, this is a signature white wine that starts dry and has a sweet finish. Best served chilled and pairs well with pork or white fish.
If you are in the mood for a light red we suggest the Plagido Red. This is a semi-sweet red wine that pairs well with lighter fare and red sauces. Plagido does boast a large red wine selection featuring their take on cabernet sauvignon, merlot, Shiraz and more.
Be sure not to miss out on the fruit wines as well. A selection of Cranberry, Peach, Apple and Cherry all made from fresh fruits. All of the fruits used to create these unique blends are collected from family run orchards, New Jersey bogs and such.
There is always room for dessert with the amazing port wine selection. Plagido’s offers four unique after dinner wines including, Blueberry, Blackberry, Dealer’s Choice and Homestead.
If you love Plagido’s Winery, but have trouble finding their fine wines, don’t forget to visit Antoinetta’s in West Creek, NJ.
